Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Abdominoplasty, or "tummy tuck," is a procedure to improve the contour and tone of the lower abdomen. During the procedure, skin and fat are removed below the belly button (umbilicus), some stretch marks can be removed and the abdominal muscles can be tightened, if needed.
If you've had a pregnancy, which has resulted in excess skin and stretched muscles, or have lost a significant amount of weight, which has resulted in excess skin in the lower abdomen, you may be a good candidate for Abdominoplasty.
Surgery and Recovery
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and patients usually go home the same day. During recovery, it takes about 7-10 days for the tightness and discomfort in the abdomen to gradually reduce, but strenuous activity should be avoided for 4-6weeks. 10-14 days off work are recommended.
A long curved scar is left along the lower abdomen, just above the pubic area, and frequently, there is a scar is around the belly button as well. Scars will lighten over a 6-12 month period.
Please schedule a consultation and examination so we can discuss the risks
and benefits of this procedure and determine if an abdominoplasty is right for you.
*Please note, any patient considering cosmetic plastic surgery procedures should be in overall good health and currently a non-smoker.
