Lower Body Lift (Belt Lipectomy)
Lower body lift, or "belt lipectomy", is a combination of an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and a buttock lift. Some improvement in the outer thighs can be seen as well. Excess skin and some fat tissue is removed from the upper buttock area, abdomen, and hips - and the skin is advanced and tightened. It is often called a belt lipectomy since the skin removal continues all the way around the waist in a continuous circle.
Good candidates for this procedure have excess skin and sagging of the abdomen, hip, and buttock with a small amount of excess fat, often caused by significant weight loss.
Surgery and Recovery
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and patients go home the same day or may stay overnight. Recovery time is 10-14 days for most of the discomfort to subside, and 3-6 weeks until vigorous exercise can begin. A long circular scar begins in the lower abdomen, continues around to the hips and then finishes in the upper aspect of the buttock or lower back. The scar takes 6-12 months to mature.
Please schedule a consultation and examination so we can discuss the risks
and benefits of this procedure and determine if a lower body lift is right for you.
*Please note, any patient considering cosmetic plastic surgery procedures should be in overall good health and currently a non-smoker.
