Skin Cancer Treatment/Reconstruction
Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer and in many cases, a careful excision can be a cure. Sometimes, other treatments are also required. Once adequate removal of the cancer has been achieved, reconstructive procedures are sometimes needed. The area is reconstructed either by simply suturing the skin, or performing grafts, rotation flaps, or other maneuvers. The patient usually goes home on the same day, with wound care and activity limitation. Smaller skin cancers are removed under local anesthetic, and there is little to no recovery or time off of work.
