Facelift (Rhytidectomy)
Rhytidectomy, or facelift, improves the tone and contour of the cheeks, jawline, and neck (including bands in the neck) and is primarily used to treat larger or deeper wrinkles in these areas. Deep creases of the cheeks on either side of the nose and “jowls” along the jawline can be improved.
The jawline and neck are more dramatically improved than the upper face is, as the procedure targets the heavier wrinkles or sagging skin in the lower face and neck.
Surgery and Recovery
The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and patients go home the same day. It takes approximately 7-14 days for bruising and swelling to subside, but subtle swelling can last longer. Scars are left around and behind the ear and in the scalp area and take 6-12 months to fully mature.
Please schedule a consultation and examination so we can discuss the risks
and benefits of this procedure and determine if a rhytidectomy is right for you.
*Please note, any patient considering cosmetic plastic surgery procedures should be in overall good health and currently a non-smoker.
