Breast Enlargement (Augmentation Mammaplasty)

Procedure Description
Breast augmentation is a procedure to increase the size and improve the shape of the breasts. It is beneficial to patients with a desire for a larger breast size or who have lost shape and volume in the breasts after pregnancy.

There are a number of options in incision placement, implant shape, and position in front or behind the pectoralis muscle.  Saline and silicone implants are both available and each have unique characteristics that your surgeon will discuss as you consider the options for this procedure.

Surgery and Recovery
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, and patients go home the same day. Recovery is 5-7 days for the discomfort to gradually reduce and strenuous activity should be avoided for 3-4 weeks after surgery. We suggest that patients take about one week off work to recover.

Scars remain in the crease below the breast, around the areola, or in the armpit and will lighten over a 6-12 month period.

Please schedule a consultation and examination so we can discuss the risks
and benefits of this procedure and determine if a breast enlargement is right for you.

*Please note, any patient considering cosmetic plastic surgery procedures should be in overall good health and currently a non-smoker.
